How to build a cornhole court?
Factors to consider when building a new cornhole court:
- Court Location: It is best to locate a flat area of land or floor area for the construction of your cornhole court.
- Costs involved: Materials and Labor
- Construction Process: DIY (Do It Yourself) vs. hiring a professional company
Cornhole Court Materials and Specifications:
We follow the ACA guidelines for building our cornhole courts:
- The two rectangular wooden platforms will measure 48” x 24” constructed from ½-inch plywood. Note: Wooden cornhole courts are the preferred construction material of the ACA
- Heights of the platform: Front end- 2 ½- 4inches tall from bottom to top Back- 1foot off the ground to the highest point of the deck
- Four 2 x 4 x 48”s and four 2 x 4 x 21”s for the frame
- Four 2 x 4 x 11 ½” for the legs
- The hole in each cornhole board measures 6 inches in diameter. The center of the hole is located 9 inches down from the top of the cornhole court, and 12 inches from either side of the court’s edges.
- The top surface of the board should have a smooth texture when finished, to ensure that there is no disruption to the beanbag pitch during the game.
- A latex paint or semi-gloss exterior should be utilized as the material to maximize the ease of the beanbag properly sliding across the board.
The corn bags or beanbags should be 6 inches square, fabricated from duck canvas and filled with two cups of corn feed. Note: If corn feed is unavailable, there are corn bags for purchase that contain a plastic filling as an alternative option.
